Calorie Calculator
Enter your details to calculate your daily calorie needs and projected weight changes. All calculations are performed locally on your device.
How's it work?
Each week your BMR is recalculated using the Mifflin-St Jeor formula.
This is estimated against daily energy needs with your activity level, compared to your calorie intake, and the resulting energy surplus or deficit is converted into weight change using the common approximation of 7700 kcal = 1 kg.
(or 3500 kcal = 1lb for the freedom lovers.)
Why?
This calculator is based off a fantastic tool I've used for my weight loss, recommended to me by a good friend (ty Z). Check it out below! Huge thanks Anomie.
The Losertown Calorie Maintenance Calculator!I found it really motivational to be able to table out my weight loss over a long span of time, that way I could get a good idea on how far away my goal weight was and what it'd take to get there.
This is one of those small web things that would seriously impact me if it ever were to close down or break unexpectedly. So of course, I had to have my own!
I've kept much of this calculator the same, but with a couple changes:
- Changed the default measurements to metric because I use that. Sorry, America.
- Rearranged some of the fields to flow a little more logically to my tastes.
- Reduced the default span of time. 3 years was simply too long for my purposes since I recalculate as I go. You can scale it up if desired, though.
- Added an optional field highlighting when weight will be below a given goal.
- Entirely client-sided calculations.
- Green.
